June is Gay Pride Month (any while I realize the month is quickly coming to an end, there is still time to participate)! Every year Guy and I find some way to show our support for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered community. Last year it involved marching on city hall to show our extreme distaste for Prop 8 passing into law and we also tend to check out the San Diego Gay Pride Parade and Festival. This year its looks like San Diego is embracing July as its own personal gay pride month, starting with Out in the Park at Petco Park for the Padres v. Astros game on July 1st and we will be in attendance. I’m hoping to get some tie dye shirts before Thursday or maybe I will be crafty and make some although that seems pretty adventurous as I have never tie dyed anything in my life. The big parade and festival are planned for the weekend of July 17th and if Harper decides to stay put we will be going to the parade as it is becoming a yearly tradition. I love finding new ways to support human rights and celebrate diversity and here are some fun and easy ways to do just that.
Watch a movie that features a prominent gay actor or gay characters such as the Lord of the Rings Trilogy (Ian McKellen who plays Gandalf is gay) or check out Milk about San Francisco politician Harvey Milk.
